Adventures with Luna and Kai!
It was the spookiest time of the year in Old Irving Park, and Luna the cat and Kai the dog were ready for a week full of Halloween fun. They had their costumes picked out and couldn’t wait to explore all the exciting events happening around the neighborhood.
Luna and Kai’s first stop was the Kiddie Hop Halloween Bash at Le Village. Luna dressed as a witch, and Kai as a superhero. They hopped and danced to spooky tunes with their friends, giggling as they twirled around the room. Soon, it was time for trick-or-treating. Luna and Kai grabbed their baskets and excitedly went from table to table, collecting all sorts of tasty treats.
“Look at all the candy we got!” Kai said, wagging his tail excitedly.
After the fun at Le Village, it was time for BOOsterfest at Bateman Elementary. The school was buzzing with excitement as kids in colorful costumes dashed around the playground. Luna and Kai couldn’t wait to try their hand at all the fun activities. They braved the haunted house, giggling at the spooky decorations, and braved a spooky obstacle course. Kai raced through the obstacle course while Luna cheered him on from the sidelines. When they finished, they both agreed that the obstacle course was their favorite part of the day.
Next on their Halloween adventure was Cleveland Elementary’s Halloween on the Green. When they arrived, they saw stations set up for pumpkin painting, a costume contest, and trick or treating! The pair loved every second and laughed all the way home, their bags full of goodies.
Later that day, Luna and Kai made their way to the OIPA @ Disney Halloween Parade, where they proudly marched in their costumes alongside friends and neighbors. The streets were filled with music, and everyone cheered as the parade passed by. Luna waved her witch’s broom, and Kai gave his best superhero pose.
The next day and their last stop was the Trunk or Treat event in Irving Park with EIPC. The parking lot was filled with decorated cars, each trunk transformed into a spooky scene. They visited each car, collecting candy from skeletons, ghosts, and even a pirate! Luna and Kai’s trick-or-treat bags were overflowing with treats by the time they finished their rounds.
“This is the best Halloween ever!” Luna said, purring with happiness.
By the end of the week, Luna and Kai had danced, laughed, and gathered so many treats. They had made spooky memories they’d never forget and couldn’t wait to do it all again next year!
